These copays are due at the time of service. Insurance information must be provided and verified prior to your initial visit.

Minors:

Parents or guardians of minors (under 18) must remain on premises while treatment is rendered.

Your First Visit:

For your first visit (for adults); expect to stay about one hour. On this visit, we review your medical history, take all necessary x-rays for diagnosis (or review transferred x-rays) perform a comprehensive initial exam, and generate a treatment plan based on your needs. Photos of the inside of your mouth can be taken to show you what we see. A cleaning is generally NOT provided on this visit. We also have a comprehensive patient education system on monitors in every treatment room to aid in explaining complex treatments. In limited cases, for adults without complex issues and have current x-rays available from another office, we can usually incorperate the cleaning into your first visit as well. This is our FastTrack program for adults.. For patients under 18 years old, generally we can perform the above as well as provide a cleaning in under one hour.

Same day or next day emergency appointments are also available for new and existing patients with pain, swelling, or other significant concerns.

For children and adults, we recommend a routine consisting of a professional cleaning and a dental exam every six months. Those with complex issues such as periodontal disease or a high tendency to develop cavities should be seen more frequently to monitor and treat your condition. For first time healthy children, we recommend a child's first visit to the dentist at three to four years of age... unless decay, pain, or other pathology is evident or uncertain. Other reasons for visiting the dentist sooner include excessive crowding of teeth (which may be extra teeth), excessive redness or bleeding of the gums, etc.

Sterilization:

At Pocono Dental Associates, we take pride in our strict sterilization procedures, utilizing the state of the art autoclaves for our instruments.

It is one of our top priorities to protect the well-being of our patients. Our office meets and surpasses all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and CDC (Center for Disease Control) standards for infection control. We are confident that you will feel right at home in our office as we welcome all patients as if they were family. As always, we welcome your questons on our sterilization protocol.

X-Rays:

We follow all recomended guidelines for dental X-ray intervals. Dental X-rays are important for early detection of cavities, periodontal disease, and other diseases of the jaw. We follow all American Dental Association recommended guideline for routine x-rays intervals. Every induvidual is carefully assessed and a X-ray interval is made to match your risk assessment. We utilize the latest equipment in digital radiology for all our X-rays. This includes our bitewing, pariapical, and Panoramic X-rays. We also use the protective vests and thyroid collars on every patient during our X-rays.

Pocono Dental Associates has three general dentists. We do not have any specialists at our facility. However, should you require a specialist for your treatment, we can refer you to one of many highly trained specialists in our referral network. We work closely with our specialists to provide the treatment you need.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing our practice for your dental care.
