The
Recare Appointment
It's
Not Just A Cleaning!
In
general, a healthy dentition should have a Recare Appointment
every 6 months. Those with periodontal issues or exceptionally
high caries index should be seen every 3 or 4 months.
We
know that continuing care appointments are important.Here's
a list of things we provide during your visit.
1. Review of medical history and modify prevention and treatment
as needed
2. Oral cancer screening
3. Gum (periodontal) disease screening
4. Full mouth disease and tumor detecting x-rays as needed
5. Cavity detecting x-rays as needed
6. Examination of existing fillings for fractures and leakage
7. Detection of new cavities
8. Evaluation of the bite
9. Re-check the fit of dental appliances (dentures, partials,
retainers, sport guards, nightguards, etc.)
10. Evaluate cosmetic needs to give you a more beautiful
smile
11. Removal of hardened bacterial containing deposits (tartar
or calculus)
12. Removal of soft, sticky bacterial containing deposits
(plaque)
13. Removal of coffee, tea, and tobacco stains
14. Floss and polish teeth to make them squeaky clean
15. Personal oral hygiene instruction and introductions
to new home care devices for your personal use as needed
16. Clean denture appliances
17. Intra-oral photographs of problem areas as needed -
so you can see what we see
18. Fluoride and other medicaments as needed
19. Develop a treatment plan for your present and future
dental needs
20. Evaluate your total dental needs and refer you to a
specialist
as needed
21. Answer any questions related to dental health and your
treatment options
